Tipi Raising!

5th Graders Raise a Native American Tipi

The 5th Grade team had the incredible opportunity to learn from award-winning author, storyteller, and experimental archaeologist Robin Moore. Students discovered how to raise a 16-foot tipi and explored the similarities and differences between the Lakota, who lived on the high plains, and the Lenape, who live in Pennsylvania.  This unforgettable, hands-on experience required teamwork from every fifth-grade student. Once the tipi was raised, students gathered inside to enjoy Robin Moore’s engaging Native American storytelling. This was a great kickoff to our ELA module about Native Americans and our Social Studies unit!
